A Real World Example

For example, consider one of our projects done for ADS Logistics that was geared towards Mitsubishi Motors North America where we created a Web application that was integrated into an existing legacy RPG-based system.

The web application was developed using Java technologies such as Hibernate, Spring Framework and Spring Webflow and was deployed on a Tomcat application server running on a JDK1.4 platform. The application was built to run on an AS/400 platform and to connect to existing large DB2 database. This allowed the client to simultaneously run this component with existing components on the same hardware. It also provided an easy-to-use interface that enabled quick and efficient processes to add, delete or change parts of information from a common database over the Internet.

By allowing organizational interactions between the automobile producer and its suppliers in a convenient and systematic way, it increased awareness of each party's commitments and decreased idle time of each party's equipment...not to mention a reduction of the time wasted on unnecessary phone calls concerning the checking and re-checking of the same information!
