Back in 2004 I remember my blackberry that used monochrome screen similar to Amazon Kindle and used to last the whole week on a single charge doing all of the email chores and calendar and I didn't even think for to carry a charger with me when going on a business trips for a couple of days. Now its a totally different story, iphone and android users can attest that even though their devices are superior in functionality to my old school blackberry none of them can match the battery life my blackberry had. I guess in a run for the best in feature set manufacturers struggle to emphasize how important it is to have a charger with you at all times. Who cares if I can standby with my phone for 200 hours? Or talk straight for 6 hours before depleting the battery? I want to actually use it, use apps on my android, listen to Pandora on the go, use Google Maps, use camera and email as much as I can. The reality is though is unless you carry charger in 14 hours of normal "old blackberry like" use patterns you are carrying a very expensive brick with dead battery, regardless of who made it Apple or HTC. So buying a new phone implies that you are somehow aware that charger in your pocket is as essential as gas in your guz guzzling car. That's it, there should be new attribute attached to the new pda devices, the power guzzler! And don't get me wrong, my droid phone can do lots of things that the blackberry couldn't, but at the end of the day if you don't have a power outlet next to you by the dusk, you are out of voice and email by dawn! so please, all of you Sony, HTC, Motorola and Apples of the world come up with a better battery technology to keep us email junkies fueled with things to do!
